Currently, Willian is one of the Brazilians with the most success in worldwide football. And this statement is based on his statistics, his period in Europe, his titles and his assiduity. Without suffering any serious injury in his career, the attacking midfielder has a linear career and has always been evolving.
After being a success in Brasil still very young, when he played a season for Corinthians (using the number 10 shirt of the club at 18 years old), Willian was sold to Shakhtar Donetsk, in 2007, still before completing 20 years of age. Overcoming the barriers of the cold, the language and different culture of Eastern Europe, the Brazilian, different to many others, remained persistent and became an idol of the club, gaining 13 titles (including the UEFA Cup in 2008/2009), in 5 and a half seasons. For Shakhtar, he played 221 games with 37 goals.
Even though he quickly passed through Anzhi, in Russia, which lasted half a year, Willian began gaining attention of a European giant: Chelsea. And with the Blues the Brazilian has been collecting titles and good statistics. After all, he’s been with them for 6 seasons- always at a high level- and there are possibilities of continuing for many more years there. In total, Willian has played in Europe for 12 years (something that few have been able to do). With 4 titles in 6 years, being 2x winner of the Premir League, the most competitive championship in the world, Willian has competed in 285 matches - he is the Brazilian with the most appearances in the history of Chelsea - he has scored 52 goals and 47 assists.
In addition, his assiduity gains a lot of attention. Since his arrival at Chelsea, the club competed in 320 matches and he played in 285 of them (89% of them). Incredibly, the 35 games he did not play in, only 7 of them were due to injuries, which represents only 2%.
For Brazil, his career is also growing. After being in the selection of the Brazilian team, he played in the last two World Cups (2014 and 2018), and is the player who has had most apprehended for his national team in the last 5 years. During this period, the attacking midfielder of Chelsea competed in 53 matches for his national team, more than the Defender Miranda (47), the attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho (44), the striker Neymar (42), the defensive midfielder Fernandinho (37) and the defender Filipe Luis (34).
